Hold Cup (BYOM)

BYOM — Bring your own material.
Silver bars, coins, whatever you already have. It gets melted down and shaped into an espresso cup. Designed by Michael Rüscher. Reduced to what’s necessary. Made to be used.

The process stays close to the material. Each piece is sand-cast, giving it its characteristic surface. Nothing is hidden. The material stays visible. What you get is not a new object. It’s the same material in a different role. Each piece is unique. Because what you bring is.

The idea
Some things are made to hold value. And end up being kept away. HOLD brings them back. Not by changing the material. But by changing how it exists. From stored to used. From abstract to present. And at some point, value stops being something you store, and becomes something you put on the table.
