Not what it looks like

OFFFHAND pieces are made to be looked at twice. A diamond without a diamond. Solid metal that appears soft. Familiar forms, shifted just enough to become unexpected.

MANIFESTO

MADE BY A GOLDSMITH

OFFFHAND was founded by goldsmith Michael Rüscher in Vorarlberg, Austria.

What started at the workbench has grown into a label for jewelry and objects, but the way of working has stayed the same. Ideas are developed through material, proportion and process — and made by hand in the workshop.

For Michael, traditional goldsmithing is not about reproducing the past. It is a way to make something new.

OLD TECHNIQUES, NEW FORMS

Traditional goldsmithing is at the core of OFFFHAND. Casting, forming, welding, interlocking and finishing by hand.

But tradition is not something we preserve for its own sake. We use old techniques with new freedom — combining craftsmanship with contemporary tools, ideas and forms.

The technique may be centuries old. The result doesn’t have to look like it.

Three custom-made gold rings from OFFFHAND Individuals.

OFFFHAND also creates custom pieces. Michael advises you personally on material, form and possibilities — from the first conversation to the finished piece.

CRAFT

We don’t follow templates — we shape metal by hand. Every piece is forged, welded, or cast using refined techniques and a sharp eye for detail. This isn‘t production — it’s precision.

substance

We work with solid materials only: gold, silver, platinum. No coatings, no fillers, no fakes. What you see is what you wear — and what stays. Jewelry that has presence, weight, and purpose.

attitude

Familiar shapes are shifted through proportion, construction and material. Solid metal can appear soft, fluid or assembled — revealing more the closer you look.
